OR Technology, Precision Instruments Offer LS-120 Upgrade Kits At Retail

CompUSA is First Participating Retailer, Free Installation/Rebate Promotion Announced OAKDALE, Minn. (April 29, 1997)-- OR Technology Inc. (Campbell, Calif.) and Precision Instruments (Dallas) today announced the availability of a new LS-120 upgrade kit at CompUSA. Marketed under the Precision Instruments name and under OR Technology's "a:drive" brand, the a:drive™ Upgrade Kit allows users to equip new or existing PCs with LS-120 technology, the new high-capacity, backward-compatible diskette platform co-developed by Imation Corp. (NYSE: IMN).

Imation, the imaging and information company recently spun-off from 3M, markets and manufactures the Imation™ LS-120 Diskette.

OR Technology and Precision Instruments are offering two versions of the a:drive Upgrade Kit: a universal model for most PCs and a special configuration designed specifically for Compaq Presario PCs. The upgrade kits are now available at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $199.

"The broadening availability of LS-120 technology is good news for the millions of computer users who need a high-capacity, removable storage option that doesn't render their existing diskettes obsolete," said Ray Meifert, director, PC Markets Segment, Imation. "Today's announcement is strongly indiciative of the growing demand for this new standard in desktop storage."

With a special promotion also announced today, CompUSA customers who purchase selected Compaq Presario PCs along with an a:drive Upgrade Kit an receive free installation of the LS-120 drive at CompUSA or a $50 rebate by mail. The offer is valid through May 30, 1997, and more nformation is available at CompUSA Computer Superstores.

The a:drive Upgrade Kit includes an LS-120 a:drive, necessary hardware and drivers, and manuals for easy installation.
